1 Man Arrested for Fatal DUI Hit-and-Run Crash in Riverside
A man on his motorcycle was struck and killed early Sunday morning, June 10 by an alleged DUI driver who fled the scene. According to The Press Enterprise, the hit-and-run took place on the 215 Freeway and resulted in the death of 50-year-old, Martin Guillen. Riverside County Coroner’s Office along with the California Highway Patrol stated that Guillen was operating his 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he was hit from behind by a speeding Kia Forte.
The crash took place around 3:40 a.m. near Blaine Street. That’s when the car that was allegedly speeding southbound at more than 100 mph slammed into the back Guillen’s motorcycle. Guillen was immediately thrown from his motorcycle and died from severe injuries suffered during the crash.
Ryan Andrew Burke Arrested for Fatal DUI Crash
According to officials, the driver of the Kia was 20-year-old Ryan Andrew Burke whose vehicle flipped over as a result of the accident. The young man then proceeded to flee the scene of the crash on foot and was later reprehended at his home and taken into custody. Burke apparently showed signs of intoxication and is currently facing a host of serious charges. Charges will likely include vehicular manslaughter, felony DUI, and felony hit-and-run.
It is more than evident that Ryan Burke will be held accountable for his terribly negligent actions. Hit-and-runs are not taken lightly, especially when the crash results in the death of another person. Mr. Guillen’s family members will certainly have the right to file a claim for wrongful death as Burke was driving while intoxicated and speeding. The suspects’ blatant disregard for the safety of other motorists will see him held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Wrongful death suits have the ability to recover compensation for loss of future wages, companionship, and funeral expenses.
