1 Woman Hit & Killed by Truck in Coronado, California
29-Year-Old Woman Killed in Silver Strand Boulevard Pedestrian Collision
Coronado, CA (June 15, 2018) Â A 29-year-old was struck and killed by a motorist early Friday morning. The accident occurred around 1 a.m. on Silver Strand Boulevard near Tarawa Road. Initial reports state that the woman had been arguing with her boyfriend when she was struck by the vehicle, though no foul play is suspected. Â
According to Coronado police officers, the couple had been traveling northbound on Silver Strand Boulevard before pulling over near Tarawa Road. The woman and her boyfriend exited the vehicle and began to argue along the side of the road.
During the course of the argument, the woman allegedly walked onto Silver Strand Boulevard were she was then struck by a pickup truck traveling along the road. The driver of the pickup truck has not been identified, and they remained at the scene to cooperate with police investigators.
Despite the efforts of first responders, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was later pronounced dead. Her name has not yet been released to the public as officials wait to inform next of kin. The boyfriend has also not been identified.
While investigators documented the scene and took statements from those involved, parts of Silver Strand Boulevard from Tarawa to Rendova road were closed. Shortly before 5:30 a.m., all lanes were reopened.
An investigation is ongoing into the nature of the crash. Â
