California Car Accident InjuriesÂ
Motor vehicle accidents are the biggest cause of injury. Due to car crashes, 2.5 million Americans go to emergency rooms and nearly 200,000 are hospitalized per year.
A car accident in California may cause serious injuries to any part of your body. But what are the most common injuries by motor vehicle accident victims? And if you are injured, how do you get legal compensation for this trauma to your body?
Car accidents are the main cause of traumatic brain injuries, which occur when the brain is damaged by a blow to the head or a piercing injury. Every year, over 50,000 people die when they suffer a traumatic brain injury. Another 80,000 to 90,000 experience long-term disability.
Spinal cord injuries and paralysis are also a very common injury in a crash. The impact of an accident can cause spinal cord injuries meaning you lose the ability to walk or even use your arms. This damage is permanent.
The human body and spine cannot sustain a heavy impact, and back injuries are a frequent result of car accidents. Unfortunately, back injuries do not always show up right away, which is why you should always retain an attorney because they will protect your rights after a serious injury such as this. Pain and disability from a back injury can be grave and last a long period of time – if it even goes away at all.
If your vehicle catches fire after a crash, you can suffer painful burns. Severe burns can need surgery and skin grafting, as well as creating long-lasting skin deformities which cause extreme pain and suffering.
Police will waste no time in finding out what caused this multiple-injury accident in San Diego. An accident report showing exactly what happened at the crash site as well as the injuries suffered will be forthcoming. At this time, authorities have not said if any of the people injured can be held liable and what actually occurred within the crash site. In any case, legal representation is vital to the injured parties that were affected by the crash.
