Pauma Valley, CA – Big Rig Overturns, Kills One on Highway 76

Pauma Valley, CA (March 14, 2019) – A semi truck overturned on Highway 76 at 8:11 a.m. Thursday, March 14^th. The California Highway Patrol reports that one person was killed and one person critically injured in the crash.

According to witness accounts, the truck appeared to lose its brakes and overturned into a ditch on the shoulder of the road, a few miles south of Palomar Mountain State Park. The driver was trapped in the cab of the truck and had to be freed by paramedics. A passenger in the vehicle involved in the crash was also trapped in their vehicle and had to be removed. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel, the passenger passed away at the scene.

Both directions of Highway 76 were closed down to clear the scene and begin the investigation into the crash’s cause. The CHP’s investigation is ongoing.
