Santa Rosa, CA – Sheriff’s Office Identifies Victim Of Santa Rosa Fatal Crash as Rosa Lua, 45, of Windsor
Santa Rosa, CA (March 23, 2019) – The driver who died in a collision on Highway 101 on Wednesday night, March 20th, has been identified as 45-year-old Rosa Lua, of Windsor, by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
Fernando Aguilera, 31, of Santa Rosa, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while under the influence.
Aguilera was in a Ford Fusion driving south on US-101 around 11:00 p.m. when he crashed into the back of Lua’s Honda Civic south of River Road.
The accident forced the Honda to leave the road, hit a guardrail, and roll over, before finally colliding into a fence and a tree. Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid but Lua was pronounced dead at the scene. California Highway Patrol responded to this fatal accident.
Aguilera has had two prior DUI convictions. He was booked in the Sonoma County jail.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Rosa Lua who passed away as a result of this fatal accident. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
Fatal DUI Accidents in California
Approximately one person dies every 45 minutes due to an alcohol-involved traffic accident, and alcohol-involved accidents cause non-fatal injuries approximately every two minutes. Although criminal courts hold drunk drivers accountable, criminal courts do not provide victims with compensation for physical injuries or the death of a loved one. Victims of drunk driving accidents can, however, recover civil damages.
Because this accident happened due to negligent behavior, which consisted of driving under the influence and violating traffic laws, it is likely that personal injury lawsuits and a wrongful death lawsuit will be filed with the help of a California attorney.
At Brady Law Group, we specialize in both wrongful death and personal injury lawsuits. We have helped thousands of clients successfully pursue negligent parties for damages and losses. If you or someone you know was involved in a DUI accident, call 866-478-6483 for a free consultation today.
