Selma, CA – Pregnant Woman Dies in Head-On Crash That Critically Injures Stepdaughter
Selma, CA (March 23, 2019) – A multi-vehicle accident that took the life of a woman who was four months pregnant took place on Friday afternoon in a head-on collision.
California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this fatal accident. According to CHP officers, the crash occurred at 4:15 p.m. near Conejo and Fowler Avenues.
The 23-year-old woman had her stepdaughter in the car, who was in the front passenger seat. The 11-year-old was transported to Community Regional Medical Center and is listed as in critical condition.
The victim was driving a black sedan when a white Chevy Malibu in front of her attempted to make a U-turn. A white Silverado, which was driving in the opposite direction, then attempted to avoid hitting the Malibu. Unfortunately, in the process, the Silverado hit the woman’s black sedan head-on. Both vehicles attempted to avoid a crash, spokesman Victor Taylor said.
The driver of the Silverado was transported to Selma Community Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The driver of the Malibu fled the scene, and the case is still under investigation.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the pregnant woman who passed away as a result of this fatal accident. Our thoughts are with her step-daughter and her family and at this difficult time. We hope that the young girl will find the strength to fully recover from this terrible crash.
