Hesperia, CA- Truck and Motorcyclist Collide at Cottonwood Ave. and Juniper St.
Hesperia, CA (April 3, 2019)- A collision between a motorcycle and a Salvation Army truck caused major injuries for a 43-year-old motorcyclist on Tuesday in Hesperia. The crash took place around 1:02 pm at Cottonwood Avenue and Juniper Street.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department reported that a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on Cottonwood Avenue when the truck driver, who was also driving northbound, began to turn left while the motorcyclist attempted to pass the truck on the left.
The motorcyclist was taken via air ambulance to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
The truck driver reportedly sustained no injuries and remained at the scene to speak with law enforcement officials.
Our thoughts are with the injured motorcyclist during this time.
Motorcycle Safety in California
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reported that motorcyclists made up 15% of fatalities on California’s roads in 2017. California’s motorcyclists and automobile drivers share the responsibility for keeping everyone on the road safe. It is all too easy for a distracted driver to cause a collision with a motorcycle. Motorcycles’ small size and lack of protection leave motorcyclists in a position of vulnerability on the road.
