Rancho Cordova, CA- Highway 50 Near Sunrise Blvd. Site of Fatal Crash
Rancho Cordova, CA (April 4, 2019)- A deadly crash involving three vehicles occurred Wednesday on Highway 50 near Sunrise Boulevard in Rancho Cordova.
The accident happened at around 8 am when a Toyota Tercel, which was pulled over to the side of the road, attempted to merge back onto the highway. A Toyota Prius rear-ended the Tercel. The impact of the collision threw the Tercel onto the freeway, where a cement truck broadsided it.
The passenger in the Tercel was killed in the crash. Both the Prius and Tercel drivers suffered unspecified injuries. They were taken to the local hospital.
All lanes of the highway were closed for officials to begin an investigation. The lanes were reopened by 10 am.
We offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased during this difficult time.
Commercial Trucks on California’s Freeways
According to the Federal Motor Carrier Association, 322 fatal commercial truck crashes occurred in California in 2016. Of that number, 217 were multi-vehicle crashes. Because many commercial vehicles travel on freeways to move goods from place to place, and because of their size and inability to move with the agility of smaller vehicles, a single or two-vehicle crash involving a truck can easily become a multi-vehicle crash.
Receiving compensation after a crash with a commercial truck becomes complicated very quickly. The skilled attorneys at the Brady Law Group have almost thirty years of experience navigating cases involving multiple insurance companies. Call us today at 866-478-6483.
