Forestville CA- Four Injured in Head-On Crash on River Road
Forestville, CA (April 9, 2019)- A head-on collision at a high rate of speed left four injured on Monday at around 11 am. The crash took place on the bridge over Trenton Road.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer David deRutte, 62-year-old Forestville man Gregory Lykken swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed his white Ford sedan into a white Infinity QX60 driven by 53-year-old Petaluma woman Jeanne Young.
Officer DeRutte noted that four people were injured in the crash. Young experienced moderate injuries while Lykken experienced major injuries. Young’s 55-year-old husband, Christopher Young, received major injuries while traveling in the front seat of the Infiniti. A passenger in the back seat of the Infiniti, 63-year-old Santa Rosa man William Wade, also experienced major injuries.
Emergency workers had to cut Lykken from the Ford while those in the Infiniti were taken from the damaged vehicle by hand with the aid of emergency workers, said Sonoma County Fire Battalion Chief Michael Elson. A hydraulic ram was used in the process of removing the victims from their cars.
All four people injured in the crash were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. None had been discharged as of Monday evening.
Elson remarked that the high rate of speed and the head-on nature of the collision added to the severity of the crash.
The cause of the crash, including why Lykken veered into the opposite lane, is under investigation.
Our thoughts are with everyone who sustained injuries in this accident. We wish a rapid recovery to everyone involved.

A study on attitudes about speeding by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration revealed some surprising findings: 53% of people who speed admitted to speeding due to feeling impatient with other drivers and 34% admitted that they enjoy the feeling of speeding. On the other hand, 30% said that speeding helps them feel more alert and 46% worry about crashing while speeding.
