Madera County, CA – Troyce Raqueno and Child Killed in Fatal Head-On Crash on Avenue 12
Madera County, CA (April 15, 2019) On the afternoon of April 13th, a fatal head-on crash happened on Avenue 12 at approximately 4:25 p.m. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 17-year-old named Troyce Raqueno was driving his Audi when he crashed head-on with a Toyota 4-Runner SUV that contained five occupants. The two vehicles crashed near Road 34 ½.
When the paramedics got to the crash site, Raqueno had already passed away at the scene. They also found an 11-year-old boy named Christian in the back seat of the Toyota who also passed away. They found four other occupants injured and transported them all to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Authorities are working to figure out why Raqueno’s vehicle veered into the opposite lane. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
Our thoughts are with Troyce Raqueno’s family as they grieve. His loved ones claim he was planning to follow in his sister’s footsteps and join the Army after high school. We also send our condolences to Christian’s family during this sad time. We wish the four remaining injured victims a complete recovery.
Head-On Collisions in California
Unfortunately, statistics show that the leading cause of death between 16-24-year-olds is motor vehicle accidents. Most of these accidents are caused by drivers using their cell phones when they are supposed to be looking out for other vehicles, especially those operated by distracted drivers. Head-on collisions are also mainly caused by drunk or fatigued drivers, especially in the middle of the night when not many cars are on the road.
