Novato, CA- Woman Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on CA-37 Near Atherton Avenue
Novato, CA (April 17, 2019)- The California Highway Patrol reported an accident on Highway 37 or CA-37 near the Atherton Avenue off-ramp that left a woman dead.
The accident occurred on Tuesday at approximately 9:19 pm. The CHP report stated that a westbound sedan was found driving in the eastbound lanes. It crashed head-on into an eastbound vehicle after almost striking two CHP motorcycle officers reporting to the scene.
The driver of the sedan died at the scene following the crash. Pending family member notification, her name has not yet been released.
The CHP noted that the driver of the car that was struck head-on sustained injuries in the minor to moderate range.
Due to the accident and a preliminary investigation, Highway 37 eastbound from Highway 101 to Atherton Avenue was closed. By 12:30 am, the lanes were reopened.
No further information about this crash was available at this time.
