Cathedral City, CA – Gilbert Avila Jr. Loses Life In Accident On Date Palm Dr
Cathedral City, CA (April 21, 2019) – A car crash on Date Palm Dr resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The accident happened early Saturday morning.
Officials have released the name of the victim as Gilbert Avila Jr. of Banning.
The official report states that Avila was struck by a vehicle traveling north for an unknown reason.
Paramedics that responded to the incident pronounced the man dead at the scene. The crash was reported at around 2:10 a.m. in the 28400 block of Date Palm Dr., south of 10 Freeway.
The 28-year-old man from Desert Hot Springs who was driving the vehicle stopped after the accident. He was released by officials soon after.
The northbound portion of the road was shut down after the crash.
The investigation into the case is still ongoing, and more information will be made public as it continues.
