Santa Ana, CA- Street Race Possible Cause of Fatality at Bear St. Near Alton Ave

Santa Ana, CA (April 22, 2019)- An alleged street race resulted in the death of two people in a fiery crash Saturday at South Bear Street and Alton Avenue.

The accident occurred around 9:18 pm when officials received reports of a vehicle crashing into a tree at the 3200 block of Bear Street. The crash happened when the vehicle was driving on Bear Street north toward MacArthur Boulevard in what may have been a street race.

The car burst into fire following the crash. When Orange County firefighters arrived at the scene they found two people dead from the crash and subsequent car fire.

A second vehicle involved in the street race was not located and the driver was not identified. The Santa Ana Police Department is asking those with information about the crash to call their Traffic Division at 714-245-8200.
