Piru, CA – Roberto Villalobos Killed in Collision on CA-126 East Near Center St.
Piru, CA (April 27, 2019) – A multi-car accident occurred just after 5 p.m. Thursday, that took the life of Roberto Villalobos, 25, from Glendale. The passenger in Villalobos’ car suffered grave injuries and at least two other individuals involved in the accident experienced moderate to serious injuries. Another driver in the crash, Amanda Canfield 38, from Santa Clarita, also retained injuries in the accident.
California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this fatal accident. According to CHP officers, the crash occurred around 5 p.m. on eastbound Highway 126 just west of Center Street in Piru.
Villalobos was behind the wheel of a 2002 Saturn sedan traveling eastbound on Highway 126, in the fast lane. It struck the rear of a Toyota Rav-4, that was also traveling in the fast lane. The crash caused both vehicles to travel out of control and move into the eastbound left-turn lane.
The Saturn then hit the left rear end of a semi-truck that was moving eastbound. The collision caused the Saturn to overturn onto its side and both the Saturn and Toyota spun out of control into westbound traffic lanes where they were hit by a Ford Ranger and a Chevrolet Silverado which were both driving west.
Villalobos and his passenger were trapped in the overturned Saturn. Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid. The passenger was listed as in critical condition and was extricated from the vehicle. Villalobos passed away at the scene. The passenger was then airlifted to a local hospital. At least two other individuals experienced moderate to serious injuries and they were transported via ambulance to local hospitals.
We send healing thoughts to the injured parties and their family at this time. Our thoughts are with them all during this difficult time as we hope for a full recovery.
We also would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Roberto Villalobos who passed away as a result of this fatal accident. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
What to Do After a Car Accident in California
After any kind of car accident in California, drivers must report the crash to the California Highway Patrol or to the police department of the city where the accident occurred especially if the crash resulted in injuries or death of anybody involved.
Here are steps to take after a car accident in California:
- Stay at the scene – especially if someone else was injured
- Seek medical attention
- Move over to a safe spot
- Get information about the other car and exchange contact information with the other drivers and any witnesses
- Do not admit any fault
- Do not proclaim you are not hurt – injuries can become apparent later
- Take photos
- Report the crash to the California DMV and notify your insurance
- Consider gaining the services of a California personal injury lawyer
You need a California auto accident attorney with experience. You may be confused about whether or not you have a claim for compensation. To be eligible to collect damages, your accident must meet two criteria:
- The accident was at least partially caused by the other person’s negligence.
- The accident caused you or a family member to retain grave physical injuries or even death.
An attorney will take into account any current and future medical bills, lost wages, pain, and suffering, and even a wrongful death suit so you get the compensation you need to cover costs of the accident.
