Firestone Park, CA – Vicente Lopez Killed In Bike Accident on Alameda St Near Firestone Blvd

Firestone Park, CA (April 28, 2019) – A bicycle vs. pickup truck accident occurred on April 26 just after 10 p.m. that took the life of one person.

California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this fatal accident.  According to CHP officers, the crash occurred a little before 10:10 p.m. Friday.

Bicyclist Vicente Lopez 57, of Lynwood, was riding a bicycle when he was struck and killed by a pickup truck in the unincorporated Los Angeles County Firestone Park community that borders South Gate. The crash happened on Alameda Street, south of Firestone Boulevard.

Witnesses stated that Lopez was riding the bike east as he exited the parking lot of a 7-Eleven located at the southwest corner of Alameda Street and Firestone Boulevard. He then moved directly into the path of a 2017 Ram 2500 pickup going southbound on Alameda Street.

Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid the injured victim. The injured party was transported to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood for treatment and further evaluation. Sadly, Lopez did not survive his injuries from this accident. The driver of the pickup truck, a 65-year-old man from Los Angeles, was not hurt and cooperated fully with authorities.
