Carmichael, CA- Teen Critically Hurt in Bicycle Crash on Fair Oaks Blvd. Near Palm Dr.

Carmichael, CA (April 30, 2019)- A bicycle crash on Saturday left a 15-year-old boy with major injuries on Fair Oaks Boulevard near Palm Drive.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the boy was crossing Fair Oaks Boulevard eastward when a northbound Volkswagen Jetta driven by 24-year-old James Salas hit him after running a red light at approximately 8:40 pm.

Reports stated that the bicyclist had a green light and was crossing at a marked crosswalk when the crash took place. The impact of the accident tossed the boy from his bike and into the vehicle’s windshield. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries.

The boy was listed in critical condition at the hospital. His identity has not been released.

Salas stopped following the accident and cooperated with officials.

The accident is under investigation.
