Arvenal, CA- Three Car Crash Kills One Person on Hwy. 33 Near Hwy. 41
Arvenal, CA (May 6, 2019)- The California Highway Patrol reported a fatal car accident that occurred at around 5:20 am Friday on Highway 33 close to Highway 41.
The multi-vehicle crash happened for reasons unknown when a southward traveling 1995 Honda, moving at around 55 miles per hour, hit a northward traveling 2013 Ford as the Ford veered into the Honda’s lane. The Ford was moving at about 58 miles per hour.
The subsequent head-on crash caused both vehicles to lose control and spin across the highway. During this time, the 2013 Ford struck a 2004 Ford, which was driving behind the Honda.
The Honda’s driver, a 26-year-old Avenal man, was fatally injured and passed away at Adventist Medical Center. It is unknown whether the drivers of the other vehicles (the 2013 Ford driver, 43-year-old Paso Robles resident Charles Penner, or the 2004 Ford driver, 38-year-old Avenal resident Anna Oliveros) sustained any injuries in the crash.
The name of the Avenal man who died in this crash has not been released.
The CHP reported that intoxication is not believed to have played a role in the accident.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased at this time. Our thoughts are with them.
When Car Accidents Happen in California
Many of us have been taught the procedures we need to follow if we are in an accident on the highway. However, rules that we have been taught may not apply in all cases. For example, if there is a serious injury or death in the accident, then moving your vehicle to the side of the road or even turning on the blinkers may not be possible. In these cases, the most important thing to do is call 911. Remain on the scene; when emergency personnel arrive, follow their instructions.
