Brentwood, CA- Head-on Crash Kills Man on Hwy 4 and Balfour Rd

Brentwood, CA (May 7, 2019)- The California Highway Patrol reported a DUI related crash on Highway 4 in Brentwood near Balfour Road that left one person dead.

The crash took place on Monday at around 4:35 pm when a 2018 Honda SUV driving westward on Highway 4 veered away from its lane and crossed the double lines into the opposite lane.

Subsequently, the Honda struck a 2013 Toyota Corolla head-on. Emergency medical personnel reported to the scene, where the Toyota driver, a 51-year-old Ripon man, was found deceased.

According to the CHP, the Honda driver, a 46-year-old Concord resident, was found under the influence and arrested for suspicion of DUI.

The crash caused the closure of Highway 4 for several hours.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
