Bakersfield, CA – CHP Officer Injured In Hit-And-Run On Cottonwood Rd.
Bakersfield, CA (May 12, 2019) – A hit-and-run accident involving a California Highway Patrol Officer occurred on May 11 just after 11 p.m. that injured one person.
California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this injury accident. According to CHP officers, the crash occurred on Cottonwood Rd.
On Saturday night, a CHP Officer was driving eastbound on the 58 near the Cottonwood Road exit.in a 2016 marked Dodge CHP car. The officer stopped at a red light and when the light turned green, moved into the intersection when he was hit by a white Chevrolet pick-up truck traveling southbound on Cottonwood Road. The driver of the pickup truck is 48-year-old Juan Moreno of Bakersfield.
Moreno ran a red light and hit the officer’s car then attempted to drive away before he hit a fence. He then fled on foot where he was eventually caught and arrested on suspicion of a DUI and felony hit-and-run.
Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid the injured officer. He was transported to Kern Medical for treatment and further evaluation.
