Corona, CA- One Dead After Hit-and-Run on the 91 Fwy Near Green River Rd
Corona, CA (May 14, 2019)- A hit-and-run accident on the 91 Freeway near Green River Road left a woman dead on Monday at approximately 2 am.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 33-year-old Riverside resident Desiree Taitano stopped her car on the eastbound shoulder of the freeway in order to calm her pet dogs, which were in a separate vehicle driven by her friend.
As Taitano left her vehicle and approached the second vehicle, a truck struck her. The truck driver then fled the scene.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the crash site and transported Taitano to the hospital, where she passed away.
Officials reported that 48-year-old Corona resident Jose Hidalgo’s abandoned vehicle was located approximately 500 feet from the scene. He was arrested for DUI and felony hit-and-run.
Taitano’s wife, Anja Taitano, noted that Desiree Taitano was known for her work rescuing and caring for stray dogs, and for her generosity to those in need.
