Oakland, CA – Fatal Bicycle Crash Takes Life Of Youxing Zhang On CA-24

Oakland, CA (May 17, 2019) – The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s division has confirmed that a bicycle accident took the life of a cyclist. The accident occurred in the afternoon hours of Wednesday, May 15th. The approximate time of the collision was at 3 p.m.

The victim of the crash was 83-year-old Youxing Zhang. The collision took place on US-24 near the exit for Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

The vehicle that collided with the cyclist was a Toyota Prius. Zhang is said to have been riding in the right shoulder lane when he entered into general traffic.

The driver told officials that they were unable to stop in time to avoid striking the cyclist. Zhang experienced major injuries after the collision and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
