Facts About Commercial Trucks in California
The Federal Motor Carrier Association looked at the number of fatal commercial truck crashes that happened in California in 2016. They found that 322 fatal crashes involving trucks owned by companies, corporations, or employers occurred. 217 of those crashes involved more than two vehicles.
These numbers are important because they show how commercial trucks, which move long distances on highways carrying merchandise and other material, can become involved in multi-vehicle accidents due to their size and inability to move or brake as quickly as smaller vehicles. When a small vehicle hits a larger one, the potential for a chain reaction crash goes up.
Crashes with commercial vehicles can become more complex than crashes with privately owned vehicles. Compensation involves navigating company lawyers and other issues. In order to receive what you deserve after an accident with a commercial truck, you need the support of an experienced accident attorney.
