Tanker Truck Accidents In California
If you or your loved one has been injured in an accident involving a tanker truck you are not alone. More than 500,000 truck crashes occur every year. A tanker truck accident generally happens quickly and without much warning. As with any type of collision, the consequences can be fatal or life-changing.
A tanker truck accident can result from a range of causes. There are three common causes of tanker truck accidents:
- Driver Errors
- Vehicle Conditions
- Size of Load
When you are behind the wheel, you need to pay attention. Though distracted driving is a hazard for all the people on the road, when truck drivers are distracted, the consequences can be more horrific due to the sheer size and velocity of the truck. One in five tank rollovers is caused by a combination of fatigue and inattention.
The condition of the tanker truck and its load size can also contribute to accidents. Faulty brakes to over-sized or unsecured loads can also be unsafe.
A tanker trunk commonly transports liquid cargo. Therefore, when an accident happens, the risk of injury is increased if the cargo is hazardous.
Be cautious of:
- Leaks and Cargo Spills
- Chemical Burns
- Toxic Fumes
- Fires
