Coachella, CA- Pedestrian Seriously Injured at Calhoun St and Ave 48

Coachella, CA (May 27, 2019)- A pedestrian was seriously injured after a collision with a vehicle on Thursday evening.

The crash occurred near Calhoun Street and Avenue 48 at approximately 9 pm. IPD public information officer Ben Guitron reported that an unknown vehicle hit a male pedestrian. Emergency medical personnel transported the pedestrian to a local hospital for treatment.

Guitron reported that the extent of the victim’s injuries is unknown at this time and that the pedestrian may have been under the influence of alcohol. Guitron also noted that the driver was not under the influence at the time of the crash

The driver who struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

An initial investigation into the crash caused a traffic slowdown in the area.

The investigation is ongoing.
