Pedestrian Accidents in California
In 2016, approximately 129,000 pedestrians were admitted into hospitals throughout the United States after being hit by vehicles. When these accidents occur in the evening, it’s either due to distracted driving, drunk driving, or drowsy driving. Those are the main three circumstances that would cause drivers to accidentally hit pedestrians, especially if they have the right of way. California law states that drivers must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians at all times, no matter where they are, and no matter the circumstance. When drivers fail to do so, they put pedestrians in harm’s way.
