Jamul, CA- Head-On Crash Leaves Two Dead and Four Hurt on Lyons Valley Rd

Jamul, CA (June 6, 2019)- California Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Christy reported a late-night accident west of Reservoir Drive on Lyons Valley Road that left two people dead and four injured just after midnight on Sunday.

According to the CHP report and the San Diego County Medical Examiner, 19-year-old Lemon Grove resident Martin Lopez Soto and 19-year-old Jamul resident Hope Najera were killed by multiple blunt force injuries after the green GMC Sonoma truck, driven by Soto, was struck by a black Jeep Wrangler, driven by an 18-year-old El Cajon resident.

The reports stated that the GMC was driving eastbound when it swerved into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the Jeep. Soto and Najera were not wearing seat belts, reports noted.

Officer Christy said that the Jeep’s driver and three teenage passengers in the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. These victims were treated at the crash site or transported to local hospitals.

The crash is under investigation by the CHP.
