Pedestrian Fatalities on California’s Highways
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, between 2009 and 2016, California had more pedestrian accidents than any other US state. The IIHS survey noted that in the seven-year time span of their study, California’s pedestrian fatalities rose 46%. In addition, the Governor’s Highway Safety Association released nation-wide statistics for 2018: 6,227 pedestrian deaths occurred throughout the US that year, showing an increase of 250 since 2017.
