Ceres, CA – 8 Injured in Major Collision on Hwy 99

Ceres, CA (June 12, 2019) On the afternoon of June 10^th, a major collision happened on Highway 99, not far from Service Road. A minivan somehow rear-ended a Chevrolet Tahoe during stop-and-go traffic at around 1:30 p.m. All of the vehicles on the highway were driving at an estimated 45 mph.

When the ambulance, police, and firefighters arrived, they found the minivan full of nine people, which included six children. All of the children sustained injuries as a result of the crash, and three of the children weren’t wearing seatbelts. Two of the children were flown to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the minivan, Benigno Martinez Diaz, sustained injuries as well. The driver of the Chevrolet, 61-year-old Joseph Volk, was reportedly not injured in the crash.

The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident to determine causation and liability.
