California’s Good Samaritan Law
When a Good Samaritan stops to help at an accident in California, they are protected from liability for their actions under Health and Safety Code 1799.102. Because legal action almost always arises after a car accident, it’s important that true good Samaritans don’t hesitate in offering aid to those hurt in accidents for fear of being found liable.
In order to receive coverage for medical bills and other expenses due to stopping at the crash, however, legal action might be necessary.
