San Jose, California – Two People Injured after Suspected Hit-and-Run on Vine Street
San Jose, California (June 28, 2018) – Bay area local news sources reported that two people received serious injuries as the result of a suspected hit-and-run accident on Vine Street, in the vicinity of Oak Street and Edwards Avenue. The incident took place at approximately 1:00 AM on the early morning of Thursday, June 28, 2018. Authorities have identified the culprit as 18-year old San Jose local Diego Alberto Davila-Martinez. Meanwhile, law enforcement has not provided more detailed information concerning the identities of the two injured parties at this time.
Police reports confirmed Martinez was driving a black Ford pickup truck in the 900 block of Vine Street when he collided with a black Lexus. Within seconds, the Ford plowed through the yard of a residential home before striking two more parked vehicles. Ultimately, Martinez’s vehicle stopped short.
The San Jose Fire Department rushed to the scene and provided aid to the victims. Department firefighters had to extract the Lexus driver from the wrecked vehicle. The victim was then taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for severe trauma.
Likewise, a passenger from one of the parked vehicles was transported to a hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The current conditions of both victims remain unknown.
After the crash, Martinez and another occupant of the Ford truck attempted to flee the crash site but Martinez was later detained. Authorities arrested the 18-year old for causing a hit-and-run accident, and he was interred at Santa Clara County Jail.

Based on this information, Martinez will be held accountable for causing the accident, damages to the other vehicles, and injuries sustained by multiple victims. Hit-and-run incidences should not be taken lightly, and fleeing the scene of an accident is considered a cowardly, criminal act that can result in serious charges.
In this case, the driver of the Lexus, the passenger of the parked car, and any other victims of the crash will have the legal rights to file personal injury lawsuits against Martinez. By seeking legal assistance, these individuals can receive compensation for a variety of issues including medical bills, vehicle insurance, and painful injuries.
