Vista, CA. Accident Involving a Police Patrol Car on North Santa Fe Avenue
Vista, CA. (July 5, 2018) – The San Diego Police Department reported an accident involving a Toyota and a police patrol car on North Santa Fe Avenue and Vista Village Drive. The accident apparently occurred at approximately 11:04 p.m. on July 4th when a sheriff’s deputy was reportedly responding to a crash involving a pedestrian who was hit by a truck.
The deputy in the patrol car was apparently heading south on North Santa Fe Avenue when he was broadsided by a 2000 Toyota Rav4 SUV. The patrol car had its lights flashing and sirens on when the Toyota that was traveling east on Vista Village Drive collided with the patrol car. The driver and his two small children ages 8 and 11 suffered minor injuries as a result of the accident. Paramedics were quickly on the scene to assist all those were injured in the collision, but apparently, no one had to be taken to the hospital.
An investigation is ongoing in order to conclusively determine who may have been at fault for the damages sustained in this crash as it is unclear who was at fault. Our sympathies go out to anyone who may have suffered any injuries during this accident.

While it seems possible that the driver of the Toyota may be at fault due to the fact that the patrol car reportedly had its sirens on and lights flashing before the crash, liability has not been determined. Investigators will likely be looking into all aspects of this accident and the events that led to it in order to make a clear and concise determination. Depending on the results of the investigation, there could possibly be grounds for a personal injury claim.
