Altadena, CA. Multi-Vehicle Crash Includes Big-Rig on 5 Freeway at Penrose Street

Altadena, CA. (July 7, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported a crash early Saturday morning that involved several vehicles and resulted in the injury of at least one person in Altadena. The large collision occurred at approximately 3:38 a.m. on the 5 Freeway at Penrose Street. The crash reportedly took place in the southbound lanes.

A total of at least four vehicles were involved in the accident, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision apparently started with a stalled vehicle on the highway. Reports state that shortly after the vehicle stalled, it was struck by at least four vehicles, one of which was evidently a large commercial tractor-trailer.

One person was reported to have been complaining of an injury, although their condition is not known at this time. No further details were released in reference to the exact number or severity of injuries, and the events that led to the crash are currently under investigation.
