San Diego, CA – Pregnant Woman Injured in Pedestrian Crash Near Upas Street and Sixth Avenue
San Diego, CA (July 15, 2018) – The San Diego Police Department reported a pregnant woman who was apparently struck and injured by a vehicle which fled the scene of the accident at the Hillcrest Pride Festival Saturday night. The pedestrian accident which occurred in the vicinity of Upas Street and Sixth Avenue was reported to have taken place at approximately 10:30 p.m.
According to the report filed by the San Diego Police Department, the alleged hit-and-run driver crashed through a barricade at the Pride Festival before striking the pregnant woman with their vehicle. The driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident took place. Emergency responders arrived promptly in order to assist the injured pedestrian. Reports state that the woman had to be treated for a relatively minor leg injury.
There is no more information currently available in regards to the reason the suspect went off the road or how the crash occurred. At this time, the name of the victim has not been reported. The San Diego Police Department is currently searching for the suspected hit-and-run driver who apparently caused the collision.
