Oakhurst, CA – Two-Vehicle Accident Takes Place along Road 222 and Pettitt Road

Oakhurst, CA (July 24, 2018) – Local news sources reported that a traffic accident involving two vehicles took place at the intersection of Road 222 and Pettitt Road. Authorities logged the incident at approximately 2:51 PM in the afternoon on Tuesday, July 24, 2018. At this time, no details concerning the identities of the drivers have been revealed.

According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, a Kia Forte was traveling westbound on Road 222 when, for indeterminate reasons, the vehicle swerved across the center double yellow line. At some point, without warning, the Forte slammed into an oncoming Hyundai Tucson that had been traveling eastbound down the same route. Afterward, rescue teams were dispatched to the crash site and rendered aid to the victims.

Reports confirmed officials had to extract a driver from the wrecked Tuscon. Later, this individual was transported via air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno to receive treatment. Details regarding the victim’s injuries and current physical condition have not been disclosed.

Meanwhile, officials reported a 35-year old man from Oakhurst, who had been riding as a passenger in the Tuscon, had suffered non-life threatening injuries.

CHP also revealed that the Forte driver did not survive the impact and was pronounced dead at the crash site.

For over two hours, authorities kept Road 222 and Pettitt Road closed.

At present, the investigation is ongoing.
