San Francisco, CA – One Person Injured after Suspected Hit-and-Run Accident on Eastbound Interstate 80
San Francisco, CA (July 30, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported that one person required hospitalization as the result of a suspected hit-and-run accident that took place along the eastbound Interstate 80 Freeway, in the vicinity of the Treasure Island off-ramp. CHP initially documented the crash at approximately 11:25 PM at night on Sunday, July 29, 2018. At this time, now detailed information concerning the identities of the people involved in the incident has been released.
Based on the CHP log, multiple unidentified drivers had been participating in an illegal road race before the accident. At some point that night, the four vehicles involved swerved out of control along Interstate 80 and collided. Furthermore, CHP reports indicated one vehicle had overturned after the crash.
Authorities have identified two vehicles as a white Lexus GS 350 and a 4-door Honda sedan.
Sometime later, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the crash site and provided medical aid to an unspecified number of victims. Personnel reported that one victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was brought to Highland Hospital for more in-depth treatment.
Police disclosed that two suspects, a male and a female, escaped an SUV and entered another vehicle to flee the scene. At this point, CHP has not specified if these individuals have been arrested or detained. As more evidence continues to surface, more information will be released to public sources.
Presently, the investigation is ongoing.

By law, drivers involved in an accident are required to remain at the scene and cooperate with authorities. Fleeing a crash site is considered a cowardly, criminal act that can result in severe punishment, including charges of felony.
As CHP reports indicate, the male and female parties who fled the scene will be held responsible for causing a hit-and-run accident and participating in a speeding race.
In the event of a hit-and-run accident, the victims may have the choice to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the culprits and, ultimately, receive compensation for multiple inconveniences ranging from medical bills to vehicle insurance.
