Del Norte, CA – Authorities Identify Elderly Man Killed during Brutal Collision Along Highway 101 near Sarina Road

Del Norte, CA (July 31, 2018) – Local authorities have provided updated information about the elderly man who died during a brutal collision that took place along Highway 101 in the vicinity of Sarina Road. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 29, 2018. As of now, officials have identified the deceased victim as 80-year old Smith River resident Jose Isabel Soltero Heredia. Likewise, the two living victims have been revealed as 37-year old Ramon Heredia and 60-year old Simona Heredia. No details concerning the identities of the people riding in the other two cars involved in the crash have been disclosed.

Based on the primary report, Ramon Heredia had been driving a 1995 Honda Civic along Highway 101 when, for indeterminate reasons, an oncoming Buick Enclave slammed into it. At some point, a third unidentified vehicle became involved in the crash.

First responders confirmed Jose Heredia, a passenger who had been riding in the Honda, died during the impact.

Simona Heredia, who had also been an occupant of the Honda, was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital to receive treatment for severe injuries.

Meanwhile, Ramon Heredia was also sent to Sutter Coast Hospital, where he received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The current conditions of the survivors have not been disclosed.
