San Diego, CA – Authorities Identify Male Pedestrian Killed after Brutal Collision on Del Sol Boulevard near Dennery Road

San Diego, CA (August 7, 2018) – Authorities recently provided updated information concerning the male pedestrian who was killed during a two-vehicle crash that happened on the 4400 block of Del Sol Boulevard, in the vicinity of Dennery Road. The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 AM last Monday, July 30, 2018. The San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased victim as 66-year old Carmelo Figueroa. No details about the identities of the two drivers involved in the crash have been released.

According to the original report, Figueroa had attempted to cross Del Sol Boulevard at the same time a 2012 Ford Fusion was speeding towards him. The oncoming vehicle collided with Figueroa, who was launched 180 feet down the road. A second vehicle also crashed into the pedestrian.

The San Diego Police and Fire Departments dispatched teams to the crash site and, accompanied by paramedics, attempted to help the victim. Personnel reported that Figueroa died from his injuries.

Authorities affirmed the Ford driver did not sustain injuries but did not specify if the second motorist was injured or remained at the scene.

Presently, investigators are still looking into a probable cause of the crash.
