Grass Valley, CA – Passenger Dies after Single-Vehicle Accident and Suspected DUI on Highway 20

Grass Valley, CA (August 7, 2018) – A passenger died as the result of a single-vehicle accident and suspected DUI incident that took place along Highway 20 near the White Cloud Campground. The incident occurred around 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 4, 2018. The deceased victim has been identified as 35-year old Dylan Shively and the suspect driver as 33-year old Joshua James Robinson, both residents of Grass Valley.

Based on initial reports, Robinson had been driving a Toyota pickup truck, also occupied by Shively, down the westbound lanes of Highway 20. When they approached the Campground, Robinson executed a dangerous right turn and the truck overturned several times.

First responders confirmed that Shively died from his injuries. However, officials did not specify if he died at the crash site or in a nearby hospital.

Reports also confirmed that Robinson was moderately injured as a result of the impact and was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment. Police arrested him on the grounds of suspected DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Robinson was transported to the Nevada County Jail.

Authorities are still investigating the accident.
