San Jose, CA – Motorcyclist Dies after Violent Traffic Accident on McLaughlin Avenue near Panoche Avenue
San Jose, CA (August 15, 2018) – A local news source reported that a motorcyclist died as the result of a violent traffic accident that took place along McLaughlin Avenue, in the vicinity of Panoche Avenue. The fatal crash happened at approximately 7:35 AM in the morning on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. As of today, authorities identified the culprit motorist as 23-year old Daniel Douglas Tapia, of San Jose. No details about the identity of the female motorcyclist have been revealed at this time.
According to initial reports, Tapia was driving a blue Honda Accord on southbound McLaughlin. At one point, he executed a U-turn over two adjacent northbound traffic lanes. Simultaneously, the unidentified woman was riding a 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle in the southbound direction and, without warning, slammed into the left side of the Honda.
Sometime later, medical personnel transported the female rider to a nearby hospital, where she died from injuries sustained during the crash.
Meanwhile, police arrested Tapia on possible charges of vehicular manslaughter and discovered he had not possessed a valid license. Authorities confirmed he had not consumed drugs or alcohol prior to operating the vehicle. However, police confirmed the dangerous U-turn maneuver was a valid justification for Tapia causing the death of the motorcyclist.
Law enforcement officials have urged civilians holding information relevant to the crash to call Detective Kevin McMillin at (408) 277-4654.
We extend our most heartfelt prayers and our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the female motorcyclist and wish then strength and peace of mind during this difficult, tragic time.
