Bakersfield, CA – Motorcyclist Injured after Traffic Accident on Eastbound Highway 178 near Mount Vernon Avenue
Bakersfield, CA (August 17, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported a motorcyclist sustained injuries as the result of a traffic accident that took place along the eastbound lanes of Highway 178, in the vicinity of Mount Vernon Avenue. The collision happened at approximately 8:49 PM at night on Thursday, August 16, 2018. At this time, no detailed information concerning the identities of the people involved in the crash has been revealed.
According to the CHP report, a motorcyclist had been traveling down Highway 178 and, for indeterminate reasons, was sideswiped by an oncoming vehicle near Mount Vernon. Sometime later, paramedics were dispatched to the crash site and discovered the rider and bike had been thrown to the ground.
Afterward, the rider was brought to Kern Medical Center to receive treatment. The current physical condition of the victim was not immediately disclosed.
Meanwhile, authorities spotted a black SUV parked near the accident site. At some point, an unidentified man exited the vehicle and escaped on foot. Officers are currently conducting a search for this individual.
At the same time, a woman parked her GMC Acadia on the highway’s right shoulder in the vicinity of Oswell Street. As per the report, she confirmed a motorcycle helmet was jammed beneath the front-left tire of her vehicle.
As of now, the investigation is ongoing.
