Merced County, CA – Authorities Identify Woman Killed during Deadly Collision with Semi-Truck on Henry Miller Road near Delta Road

Merced County, CA (August 21, 2018) – As of today, authorities have provided updated information concerning the woman who died during a deadly collision with a semi-truck on Henry Miller Road, in the vicinity of Delta Road. The violent accident occurred at approximately 3:30 PM in the afternoon on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Officials have identified the deceased victim as 60-year old San Jose resident Carmen Torres.

According to the report from the California Highway Patrol, Torres had been driving a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder east down Henry Miller Road when, for indeterminate reasons, she swerved off the road. At some point, Torres turned her vehicle back on the main road and slide into the westbound section. During the course correction, Torres plowed into the rear end of a semi truck’s tractor-trailer, and, ultimately, the Nissan was torn in half.

CHP officers confirmed Torres was sent to Memorial Medical Center in Los Banos, where she died sometime later.

Officials also affirmed the truck driver, 47-year old Hanford resident Frank Diaz, did not sustain injuries.

Presently, the CHP has assumed authority over the ongoing investigation. As more evidence continues to surface, more information will be released to public sources.
