Poway, CA – Two Injured in Head-on Collision on Poway Road

Poway, CA (August 25, 2018) – Two people presumed to be a mother and her small child were hospitalized following a head-on collision that occurred Friday afternoon on Poway Road, according to a local and trustworthy news source. The accident which was reported to have transpired along the 15800 block of Poway Road, about halfway between Highway 67 and Espola Road, took place at approximately 2:00 p.m.

According to the reports that were released, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department stated that a red Mazda coupe was speeding eastbound along Poway Road when it veered into the oncoming lane for reasons that have yet to be determined. The driver of the Mazda was then reported to have struck a Nissan Sentra which was occupied by the 25-year-old mother and her small, one-year-old son.

Paramedics along with officials from the fire department were promptly called to the scene to assist the injured parties. Victims from both vehicles were reported to have required extrication from their vehicles. The injuries incurred by the mother and her infant son were considered to be non-life-threatening, although both of them were immediately transported to Pomerado Hospital in Poway. The driver of the Mazda, a 28-year-old man, suffered lower extremity and hip injuries and was airlifted to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.

No further information has been made available in reference to the events that caused this crash, although authorities suspect distracted driving to have played a role. Neither the names nor the current conditions of the victims have been released. The investigation into this accident is ongoing.
