Yuba City, CA – One Dead, Two Severely Injured after Violent Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 99 and O’Banion Road
Yuba City, CA (September 4, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported that one person died and two more people sustained major injuries as the result of a violent two-vehicle accident that took place along Highway 99 and O’Banion Road. The incident happened at approximately 2:30 PM on Sunday, September 2, 2018. As of today, authorities have identified the two surviving victims as Ismail Bath and 79-year old Mohinder Reehal. No detailed information concerning the 80-year old Roseville man killed during the crash has been revealed at this time.
Based on the initial report from CHP, the elderly motorist had been driving a 1997 Toyota Avalon along O’Banion. At some point, for indeterminate reasons, he failed to yield to opposing traffic as he swerved onto Highway 99, while Bath approached in a 2010 Honda Civic. Immediately, Bath attempted to avoid a potential crash, but instantly collided with the Avalon.
Sometime later, CHP officers reported the Roseville man had sustained traumatic injuries and died at the crash site.
Meanwhile, Bath and Reehal sustained major injuries during the impact and were sent to Rideout Memorial Hospital to receive more in-depth treatment. The current conditions of both victims were not immediately disclosed.
Authorities confirmed all three victims had been wearing safety belts prior to the crash.
As of now, the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
