Mission Viejo, CA – Several Injured in DUI Crash on Interstate 5
Mission Viejo, CA – (November 17, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a DUI accident that injured several people in Mission Viejo early Friday morning. The wreck took place around 2:00 am on November 16th on the Interstate 5 Freeway at Oso Parkway.
According to the report, an unidentified driver was traveling on the 5 freeway in a blue Toyota Corolla sedan approaching Oso Parkway when it rear-ended a Kenworth tractor. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after the accident took place where they discovered three of five people were extricated from the wreckage. All the victims were treated at the scene by medical personnel before transporting at least four unidentified people to area trauma centers, where one at least one patient was listed in critical condition. The Kenworth tractor driver was treated at the scene. The names of all the parties involved in the crash were not immediately disclosed. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the sedan has been identified only as a 21-year-old Oceanside man, was operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident. Officials confirmed, the suspect was placed under arrest.
At this time, an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
