Los Angeles, CA – Woman Suffers in Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident
Los Angeles, CA (December 10, 2018) A fatal hit-and-run accident happened at 425 East Vernon Avenue at 3:40 a.m. on December 10th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section. A white minivan struck a 30-year-old woman and proceeded to drive off without stopping to help her. By the time emergency crews arrived at the scene, she’d already suffered fatal injuries. The police are currently searching for the driver responsible.
We send our condolences to the woman’s family as we know how heartbreaking it is to lose a loved one in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident, especially if the accident could have been prevented.
Pedestrian Accidents in California
Unfortunately, hundreds of thousands of hit-and-run accidents happen every year in the United States. Drivers who don’t stop at the scene after striking someone are usually under the influence, have a warrant out for their arrest, are in a stolen vehicle, have an expired license, or are in an unregistered vehicle. No matter the reason, it’s irresponsible and disappointing for a driver to hit a pedestrian and not stay at the scene to call for help.
The police are currently investigating this accident to determine how fast the minivan was going, if the woman had the right of way, if alcohol or drugs were involved, and if there were bad road conditions. Regardless of what caused the driver to strike the woman, the driver will still be arrested once caught and charged with a hit-and-run felony.
Once the police finalize their reports, the woman’s family could hire a California personal injury attorney to help them file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver.
