Sacramento, CA – School Bus Involved in Pedestrian Accident

Sacramento, CA (December 13, 2018) On the afternoon of December 12th, a pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of Rush River Drive and Imai Way. According to authorities, a school bus struck a pedestrian shortly after 12:30 p.m., near Spicewood Drive. When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found that the pedestrian obtained minor injuries. The reports don’t indicate whether the paramedics treated the pedestrian there or transported  the victim to a nearby hospital. It’s also unclear whether any students occupied the bus at the time and if they obtained injuries. The police are currently investigating the accident.

We are relieved to hear that the pedestrian was not severely, critically, or fatally injured. We hope that the pedestrian seeks further medical evaluation to make sure no asymptomatic complications are occurring.

Pedestrian Accidents in California

California has created a few laws to protect pedestrians on the roadways to decrease the amount of pedestrian accidents that occur every year. One of those laws requires all drivers to yield to pedestrians even if the driver has the right of way. The reason vehicles must yield is because pedestrians are more likely to get hurt than the occupants inside of a vehicle.

Even though the pedestrian is currently only experiencing minor injuries, it’s important to continue following up with a medical professional to make sure no internal issues are occurring, such as soft tissue damage or internal bleeding.

Once the police determine who will be held liable for this accident, it’s possible that the pedestrian will file a personal injury lawsuit with the help of a California personal injury attorney.

At Brady Law Group, we’ve helped thousands of pedestrians pursue all potential liable parties to obtain compensation for medical bills, loss of wages, pain and suffering, and more.
