Cabazon, CA – Woman Loses Life in Fatal Automobile Crash
Cabazon, CA (December 18, 2018) On the morning of December 18th, a fatal automobile crash happened on the Interstate 10 Freeway at Railroad Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 53-year-old woman named Sonia Hernandez drove eastbound on the freeway when she tried to pass a big rig truck but clipped the front of it instead. The impact of the collision caused her to veer off the freeway and into an embankment before she landed near Railroad Road. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, Hernandez had already passed away.
Our condolences go out to Hernandez’ family as we know it’s always tragic to lose a loved one in a vehicle accident, especially if the accident could have been avoided.
Truck Accidents in California
Studies show that about 500,000 truck accidents happen every year. Whenever large trucks collide with passenger vehicles, the drivers and passengers in the smaller vehicles are usually the ones left with the injuries. The size difference between the two vehicles plays a huge role in why people in the smaller vehicles are more prone to get hurt. Common injuries include spinal cord injuries, neck injuries, fractured bones, internal damages, and traumatic brain injuries.Injuries usually fall within four categories: minor, severe, catastrophic, and fatal. Unfortunately, in this case Hernandez suffered fatal injuries.
The police are currently investigating the accident to determine who will be held liable. Depending on their findings, Hernandez’ family may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit to help cover funeral costs, loss of spousal support, emotional distress, and more.
