Vehicle Accidents in California
Studies show that hundreds of thousands of hit-and-run accidents happen every year in the United States. For those injured in these accidents, proving negligence claims may be easier since fleeing the scene of an accident is a clear act of negligence. Injured victims will have an easier time proving duty, breach, causation, and damages if a driver flees the scene after causing them serious injuries.
In this case, the driver responsible failed to exercise his duty of care by driving irresponsibly on the road. Because he fled the scene, it’s likely that he may have caused the accident due to negligent driving. He also owed a duty of care to remain at the scene to help his injured passenger. Once the police capture the driver responsible, the injured victim could file a personal injury lawsuit with the help of a California personal injury attorney.
