Sacramento, CA – Man Lose Life in Fatal DUI Accident
Sacramento, CA (December 25, 2018) On the 24th of December, a fatal DUI accident happened at the intersection of 18th and I streets. According to the reports, a suspected DUI driver struck a 28-year-old man named Melvin Kwaun Strong who was driving a gray Infiniti. The drunk driver ran the stop sign and struck Strong’s Infiniti on the left side. The drunk driver proceeded to drive off and struck three other parked vehicles. When emergency crews arrived, they found Strong suffering from traumatic injuries and transported him to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, Strong did not survive his injuries. The police arrested the driver responsible and charged him for driving under the influence, evading a police officer, and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
We send our condolences to Strong’s family as we know how devastating it is to lose a loved one in a vehicle accident, especially if the accident could have been avoided.
Vehicle Accidents in California
Unfortunately, studies show that of 40 percent of all fatal accidents are caused by driving under the influence. When drivers consume too much alcohol and get behind the wheel, they’re putting themselves and others at serious risk, especially since alcohol slows down the functions of the central nervous system. This results into delayed brain function and hand-eye coordination, making it nearly impossible for drivers to remain attentive and alert of their surroundings. Drivers who consume too much alcohol tend to speed and violate traffic laws, as was the case in this accident.
Because the cause of Strong’s death was a clear act of negligence, Strong’s family would work with a California wrongful death attorney to file a wrongful death lawsuit.
