Pedestrian Accidents in California
California holds more pedestrian fatalities than any other state, and the numbers continue to increase every year. To prevent and decrease the number of fatalities, there are California laws specifically designed to protect pedestrians from being getting by vehicles. Unfortunately, drivers fail to abide by these laws, one of which states that all drivers must yield as they approach pedestrians, even if the driver has the right of way.
The police are currently investigating this accident to determine what caused the driver to strike and kill this woman. They’re checking to see if speed was a factor or if any other form of negligence played a role. They’re also checking road conditions and the conditions of the vehicle. Once they conclude their findings, the deceased woman’s family may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit with the help of a California wrongful death attorney.
